From the cloud to the cash register — IT done right.
BLB Technologies is a full-stack IT consultancy. Microsoft Azure & AWS cloud, enterprise networking, cybersecurity, point-of-sale, self-checkout kiosks, payment processing, badge & identity systems, and back-office integration — designed, deployed, and documented to actually run reliably.
One engineer, the entire stack.
BLB Technologies covers the full breadth of modern IT — from cloud platforms and security all the way down to the touchscreen on the cafeteria register. Each engagement starts with the problem, not a product.
Cloud Infrastructure — Azure & AWS
Design, migration, and ongoing operation across Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services. Hybrid, multi-cloud, or all-in.
- Azure: AVD, Entra ID, Sentinel, ARC, landing zones
- AWS: VPC, EC2, S3, IAM, Organizations, GuardDuty
- Migration planning, cost optimization & governance
Network Engineering
Reliable, segmented, observable networks — wired, wireless, multi-site, cloud-connected.
- LAN / WAN / SD-WAN design & deployment
- Wi-Fi surveys, VLAN segmentation, QoS
- Firewalls, VPN, ZTNA, network monitoring
Cybersecurity
Pragmatic security that fits the business — from frameworks down to the firewall rule set.
- Risk assessments & control gap analysis
- Identity, MFA, conditional access & PAM
- Endpoint & email protection, SIEM, incident response
Point-of-Sale & Register Systems
Cashier-operated registers built for high-volume cafeterias, coffee bars, and retail.
- Touchscreen register design & hardware kitting
- Thermal printers, scanners, MSR, cash drawers
- Multi-station & multi-site rollouts
Self-Checkout & Kiosks
Dual-screen self-checkout and self-ordering kiosks that move lines without losing oversight.
- Dual-screen rear-display register builds
- Self-order kiosks with payment integration
- Throughput, attract loop & accessibility design
Payment Processing & P2PE
Card-present payments secured end-to-end — point-to-point encryption, EMV, NFC, tokenization.
- P2PE setup & merchant onboarding
- EMV / chip / contactless / mobile wallet
- PCI-DSS scope reduction strategy
Badge, RFID & Identity
Connect the register to the badge ecosystem so doctors, employees, and contract diners get the right pricing.
- RFID / HID / proximity reader integration
- Contract-meal & entitlement rules
- Lost-badge & record-corruption recovery
Integration & Automation
Eliminate manual exports, payroll hand-offs, and clipboard workflows that quietly cost hours every week.
- Payroll-deduction & ERP API integration
- Custom interfaces, scheduled jobs & alerting
- Reporting dashboards & data pipelines
Implementation, Training & Advisory
vCIO-style guidance plus boots-on-the-ground delivery — install, train, document, hand off.
- Configuration, install & on-site go-live support
- Cashier, manager & admin training
- IT roadmaps, RFP & vendor-neutral assessments
Categories I work in — by capability, not by logo.
I stay platform-fluent across the cloud, network, security, and retail-tech stacks so engagements aren't steered by any single vendor's incentives. Whatever's already running, I can meet it where it is.
Microsoft Azure
Entra ID, AVD, Sentinel, Defender, Arc, Bicep / Terraform, governance & cost.
Amazon Web Services
VPC, EC2, S3, IAM, Organizations, GuardDuty, CloudWatch, IaC, well-architected reviews.
Networking & Firewalls
Routing, switching, SD-WAN, wireless, segmentation, NGFW, VPN, ZTNA.
Cybersecurity & Identity
EDR / XDR, SIEM, SSO & MFA, conditional access, PAM, vulnerability management.
Touchscreen POS
15"+ register hardware, peripheral kitting, dual-screen rear-display, ruggedized mounting.
Self-Checkout Kiosks
Self-order & self-pay flows, attract screens, payment device pairing, accessibility.
Payment Processing
EMV, contactless, mobile wallet, P2PE, tokenization, multi-processor support.
Identity & Badge Systems
RFID / HID readers, MSR, employee & contract-meal entitlements, badge-tap pay.
Payroll & ERP Integration
Custom interfaces and direct API integrations to payroll & back-office systems.
Cloud Database & Sync
Cloud DB setup, multi-site item sync, redundant offline-capable register operation.
Backup & Disaster Recovery
Backup strategy, immutable copies, off-site replication, DR testing & runbooks.
Automation & Scripting
PowerShell, Bash, Python — reporting, exports, alerting, & ops dashboards.
A predictable engagement model — discover, design, deliver, document.
Most IT pain isn't about the technology; it's about decisions made in the dark or rushed installs that skipped training. The flow below keeps stakeholders informed and avoids surprise scope creep.
Start a conversationDiscovery
Walk the environment, interview stakeholders, document the actual workflow, and agree on goals and success criteria.
Assessment & design
Written assessment with prioritized recommendations — quick wins, structural changes, deferrals — plus a line-itemed quote.
Implementation
Configuration, hardware install, integration, network & security work, on-site go-live and training.
Documentation & handoff
Runbooks, admin guides, support contacts, and an optional ongoing advisory retainer.
Built for environments where the system has to just work.
Different operators care about different things — uptime in a hospital cafeteria, audit trails in finance, throughput in a coffee shop, ruggedness on the line, compliance in regulated environments. The work changes; the discipline doesn't.
Hospital cafeteria — dual register + self-checkout, payroll-deduction automation, P2PE
A hospital food services team running two cafeteria locations was burning hours every pay period on a 3 AM auto-report → Excel → manual payroll-deduction hand-off, while doctors with badge-tap meal entitlements were getting rejected at the register. A right-sized configuration paired one cashier register with one dual-screen self-checkout register, replaced manual payroll with an API-driven integration, rebuilt badge entitlement logic, and added P2PE to shrink PCI scope — eliminating the hand-off entirely and dropping per-period payroll work to near zero.
Hi, I'm Braxton — IT engineer and the "B" in BLB Technologies.
BLB Technologies is my independent IT consulting practice. My career has been spent in the place where the cloud, the network, the security stack, and the actual operational tools — registers, kiosks, payment terminals, badge readers — meet. The unglamorous middle of the stack, where most outages and most operational pain actually live.
This practice exists because too many organizations are sold platforms and left to figure out the integrations, security, and day-2 operations on their own. You don't need a sales pitch — you need an engineer who has wired this up before, knows where the gotchas are, and writes it down so the next person can support it.
Working principles
- Solve the actual problem — not the symptom.
- Choose boring tech where boring works.
- Security is a property of the system, not a product.
- If a manual hand-off can be automated, automate it.
- Document everything — the next person on call will thank you.
Tell me about your environment.
Whether it's a cloud migration, a network refresh, a security assessment, a single-register install, a multi-site POS rollout, or rescuing a payroll process held together with Excel — drop a few lines and I'll follow up within one business day.
